Melissa serves as Managing Director for National Set Medics and has been a dedicated medic and leader with the organization for nearly ten years. Her journey with the company began in the field as one of our working medics. Through hard work, reliability, and a deep understanding of production medicine, Melissa steadily took on greater responsibility, moving from Southern California Coordinator to her current role as Managing Director for the United States.
Based in Southern California, Melissa has coordinated and booked thousands of jobs over the years. With a network of more than 13,500 registered medics nationwide (at the time of this publication), her role is to ensure that the right medic is matched to the right production. From commercial shoots and film productions to live events and complex stunt environments, Melissa works behind the scenes to make sure productions have experienced medical professionals in place.
Her job requires constant coordination, communication, and the ability to respond quickly when production schedules change — which they often do. Melissa is known for her responsiveness and dedication, often answering calls at all hours of the day or night to ensure productions receive the coverage they need.
But Melissa describes her role as more than just scheduling medics.
According to Melissa, the key to a smooth emergency medical experience on set starts with proper planning and communication. Understanding the type of production, the location, and the potential risks involved allows her to match medics with the right experience and background for the job.
“The goal is always to make sure productions feel confident that the right medical professional is on set,” Melissa explains. “When the right medic is placed in the right environment, it allows everyone on set to focus on their work knowing safety is covered.”
