Every day, National Set Medics professionals provide services that protect and improve the human condition. Across productions and events nationwide, even on occasion internationally, our medics respond to emergencies, provide lifesaving care, and make a difference in people’s lives. So many stories of rescue happen that we couldn’t possibly honor everyone individually.
But some examples stand out. Some moments deserve special recognition. And some actions remind us why we do what we do.
Ryan’s story is one of those moments.
While working a routine production in Hollywood, Ryan was called to a man down. Within seconds, he was on scene assessing a patient with agonal breathing and a weak pulse.
Ryan immediately began rescue breathing with a BVM (bag-valve mask). When the patient became pulseless, Ryan remained calm and professional, transitioning immediately to CPR and applying an AED.
The AED advised that a shock was indicated. After just one shock, the patient regained a pulse and achieved ROSC (Return of Spontaneous Circulation). Ryan continued providing ventilations and monitoring the patient while awaiting the arrival of fire personnel.
Thanks to the rapid activation of the EMS system, fire personnel arrived just minutes later and transported the patient to the hospital for further treatment.
⏱️ From Ryan’s dispatch to ROSC: less than 10 minutes!
At National Set Medics, “When Minutes Count, We’re Only Seconds Away™” is not just a slogan. It’s our mission statement. It’s the commitment our medics strive to bring to every production and event. We continually strive to uphold this high standard through preparation, professionalism, and dedication to patient care.
Ryan’s actions exemplify that mission and the very best of our profession.
